Craftsmen Custom Composites was founded by Steve Penado, whose nearly 30-year career has been dedicated to mastering the art and science of composite construction. Before entering the marine industry, Steve learned traditional West Indian carving and woodworking techniques while working alongside his uncle as a cabinetmaker. That early appreciation for precision craftsmanship continues to influence every project we undertake today.
Steve’s career later led him to build fiberglass lobster boats in Maine before joining renowned builders, including Hinckley Yachts, where he helped construct the iconic Picnic Boats while mastering advanced resin infusion technologies. He then spent fifteen years with New England Boatworks, contributing to world-class racing yacht programs and refining his expertise in carbon fiber construction, vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM), and other advanced composite manufacturing processes.
Today, that wealth of knowledge serves as the foundation of Craftsmen Custom Composites, where every project reflects decades of experience, meticulous attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Steve Penado leads fabrication and project execution while Kendall Penado oversees operations, ensuring every client receives responsive communication and exceptional service from start to finish.
Although based on Florida’s Treasure Coast, our fully mobile team provides on-site services at marinas and shipyards throughout the East Coast. Whether we’re building a custom yacht, completing a major refit, fabricating composite components, or performing structural repairs, we’re committed to delivering precision craftsmanship without compromise.
